I just came across this by chance (while actually looking for some ruin inspirations 
) and felt compelled. It's really intense! I think with the madness motif there's always a great risk of overdoing it but here the balance is just right. Plus, very obviously, the technique is amazing. I like the bright light from the unseen window practically blazing on his back and hair, making the shadows cast appear all the more sinister. His feather earring is a beautiful detail.
