Since money is so tight these days and not many people can afford commissions, I thought perhaps I could offer a couple full commissions as art contest prizes, with print packages and other things. I haven't hosted an art contest for a few years, now, but interest has been shown in my last journal about it, so I've pulled something together over the past week. This contest is in two (or three?) parts, featuring one, two, or three characters. If you'd like to donate other prizes for the winners, please let me know!

RULES AND INFORMATION:
--Artwork *must* follow the set character guidelines, but setting, composition and style are up to you as the artist. All media, digital or traditional, is accepted (sorry, no sculpture, 3D, photography or written entries.) Your submission can be anything from a clean sketch to a full painting. Since this is a contest with multiple categories, multiple entries are welcome!

--Send all entries in -jpeg- format to: Saimain@yahoo.com, or note me on DeviantArt with a link to your artwork. Include the title of the work (if there is one), which category you are entering (One, Two, or Three) and your name/website url so that I can properly credit you!

--Deadline is December 31st. Winners will be announced in the new year! ^__^ Official judging will be based on character accuracy, theme, and creativity, and there will be multiple judges. If you have any questions, please e-mail me at Saimain@yahoo.com, note me on DA, or leave a comment below.

--First place in the "TWO" or "THREE?" category will receive:

--Runners-up (no set limit) will recieve a free signed gift-card of choice, and have a chance to win an extra secret prize. They will also be featured along with the winners in my journal for a month following the contest.

--All entrants will have their work displayed permanently on Meadowhaven with credit to their name and website, and all entrants from DA will have their icons displayed in my DA journal for a week or two after the contest for extra exposure. The winners and runner-ups will be featured for a month.

The Characters and Themes:
This contest is in two (or three?) parts, featuring one, two, or three characters. You can focus on only one category for your entry, or try your hand at all of them.


~ ONE ~
This section focuses on a single character only: Jason, a playfully arrogant, skirt-chasing knight, and Faeren's foster-brother. You can pick any theme you like for your portrait of him--cute, funny, sad, random, shirtless in a cowboy hat riding a cow---it's entirely up to you! Although I ask that you please keep him in context, and in his own world. ^__^; References, story information and details are below.

~ TWO ~
This section focuses on Semiyar and Diana, a very cute couple dubbed "the Bird and the Bard" who have recently come together in my artwork. This will be a romantic theme, although you can do something more mellow, wistful, or random if you like. Nothing dark or twisted, though, and keep it clean! Any nudity must be tasteful--nothing explicit. ^__^; Both characters must be in the drawing for it to qualify. Character references, story information and details are below.

~ THREE ~
This section has more of a specific, playful theme. You see, Jason is in somewhat of a harmless rivalry with Semiyar (whom he calls "Pinstripe") for Diana's hand. She finds them both amusing and charming, though at the moment she is with Semiyar. Jason, however, is completely undeterred by this, and will make a casual pass at Diana whenever opportunity allows. Both he and Semiyar have different ideas about how best to win Diana's affections (Semiyar with his charming songs and his trinkets, Jason with his charming wit and the occasional bunch of flowers.) Diana quite enjoys the attention, though occasionally she has to break up a few verbal fights and intercept undermining pranks. ^__^; The aim of this category is to draw Jason and Semiyar somehow vying with each other for Diana, whether or not she is aware of the fact at the time. All three characters must be in the image somewhere, or at least implied to be.

To sum up:
Category ONE = 1 character: Jason.
Category TWO = 2 characters together: Semiyar and Diana.
Category THREE = 3 characters together: Jason, Semiyar, and Diana.
