Whoohoo! Finally, I drew him! My favorite character, next to Sam. I was so upset at how Faramir was portrayed in the movie---in no way was he so cold and mean! And he had black hair in the books... So I drew my version. ^___^
Great work! I agree with everyone else - this is much closer to the version of him in my head than the movie one. As someone said higher up in the comments, this totally could be the face to go with the Faramir in the BBC radio drama... which is my favourite non-book version. And I just love the way you draw noses, and the flow of his hair is just beautifully done
Faramir is my favorite character ever! I'm so happy some people draw the book version, because I absolutely can't bear what they've done to him in the movie!
I really like your version, I love both his expressions! He competes with Patilda's one for being my favorite! It's true your's is nearer to my mental image of Faramir, however, and I like both your style!
I've always liked the look of Faramir in the movies, but I hated how they made him seem so cold and cruel when he first appears and throughout the time he's with Frodo and Sam until he lets them go e.e; Bugged me, but this is a good look for him for the book, but for some reason at heart I'm just in love with his look in the movie but the way he was portrayed quite a lot was painful ;3;
Did you catch the expanded version? He's a little better in there, mostly because they include a past sequence that shows his relationship with his father so his behavior is a little more forgiable, if dissapointing.
Ah yis, I bought the extended edition box set a while ago in the Summer! I was so happy to see more of him in it, especially with the past sequence scene which made me terribly sad. Plus the scene of Eowyn and Faramir made my day <3
Wakakakakaaaa, your version actually does JUSTICE to Faramir. I quite liked him better in the movie, but of course that was after I read the books, and I stumbled on this quite a long time ago in MH. Tolkien portrays him as a very...cold dude, devoid of emotion but THIS guy's got spirit - you can see it in his smile. Whee~
Ahhhh this is awsomely amazing....if thats possible. ^.^ its really -very- similar to how I pictured him, and yes, I agree with you about the movie version. It was like a new character...it wasn't even faramir.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. *repeats endlessly* Okay, I can't tell you how much movie Faramir upset me. not because his acting is bad, but because of the way the directors chose to portray him *shakes head* I don't get it. They did everyone else really well and poor sweet abused BLACK HAIRED Faramir turns into a redheaded...kind of schemey.....kind of....not-a-Faramir guy. T_T It broke my heart I tell you, when I was nine I was convinced I was either going to marry Aragorn or Faramir. And then I saw the movie at fifteen years old and just shriveled up and DIED. Wonderful job. Many praises and flowers are headed your way...and THANK YOU for putting my favoritest quote in!!!!!! Woot! I love you forever for this!
Did you guys watch the extended version of the movie. They showed the love connection between Faramir and Eowyn more thoroughly. If you get a chance check it out... He is alot kinder looking in those shots . Anyway...
I loved Faramir... in the book. I was so upset about the way they portrayed him in the movie! His character was completely wrong.. there was nothing of the personality Tolkien had given him in his writing! And there were none of the Eowyn-Faramir scenes at the Houses of Healing, where Tolkien really showed who Faramir was... Those were some of my favourite parts of the book.
Not to mention the image was completely wrong.
Anyhow, the main point - this is a lovely drawing! Very much like the Faramir I had imagined
I must favourite it
