"I am destroyed so peacefully..." -quote from Luke (a former prince who went insane, and is now being held in exile). You can learn more about Luke on his character profile here: [link] and more about the"The Wars of Avenan"storyline here: [link]

Finally finished this! I actually enjoyed painting the fabric, too; it gave me less trouble than I had anticipated. Went for a strong, cold moonlit theme with a firelight underglow. Luke is holding the silver circlet that he wore as a prince when he was younger, knowing he can never wear it again.

Prints of this are now available (and turned out absolutely gorgeous!): [link]

...The title...makes the picture and the idea behind it even more horrifying. This is beautiful...so poetically beautiful...like something out of an angsty fairytale.

I don't really buy moonlight as the primary lighting here - it looks more like snowy daylight - but it's still pretty. Might have gone with a more interesting window design, but whatever. Lovely face, hands, and hair which is really what matters.

Simply astounding. The fabric in which Luke is garbed looks as if I could reach out and touch it, I can almost FEEL the weight and texture simply by looking at it. The prince's expression is perfect as well, I've seen the WIP painting, and it's captured superbly here - a countenance of resignation yet contemplation.

The fabric framing the painting is mindboggling, I love it, such detail and placement - and the fraying at the top give it all the more character. I'm going to be staring at this one for a long while yet.

Amazing as always! I like your watermark much more than the DA version that completely shrouds the details. Superb cloth work and the shading, lighting and tones in this are so spectacular! A masterpiece if you ask me! :D

he looks so fragile and innocent :3 it makes feel sorry for him.
once again I have this feeling "I guess I really badly wish to read those intriguing books while I can't afford to buy them" O_o

'Is that vodka?' Margarita asked weakly.
The cat jumped up on his chair in resentment.
`Good heavens, Queen,' he croaked, 'would I allow myself to pour vodka for a lady? It's pure alcohol!'
