An art-nouveau-ish commission for the lovely ~Reine-Haru, who wanted to be a forest elf. Based on the gorgeous reference she sent me here: [link] (she practically is an elf already!)

This took far longer than I anticipated for many reasons, one of them being how time-consuming and hand-murdering celtic knotwork is! Now I remember why I haven't done knotwork in years... x_X;; The pattern is inspired from designs in this book: [link] - which is a lifesaver for planning and marking out your grid prior to drawing. Saves a lot of eraser-time when you know your knots will line up at the end! Despite all the work, I quite enjoyed this piece, and am very pleased with the turnout. I love to draw side-profiles, and especially elegant elvish ones. ^__^

Oh man this had me instantly drooling. So much detail and swirly and one of my personal faves...Elves. You've really outdone yourself this time. I think knotwork really is some of your best stuff! Despite how handmurdering it is.

Mmm you should check out the Grammar of Ornament books too. Great assortment of designs that might be useful for ya!

I'm always left in awe when you come up with a new piece, and this one is no different.
She looks very dignified indeed, but also strong-willed.
The Celtic knotwork is murder on hands, I know, but it's so lovely when it's finished!

Can we improve this picture which is the world? Can it be bettered by removing the tension and the contrast? To remove the struggle and the inevitable end? Remove the black, all of it. Leaves white, only blankness. Is it now the best it can be?
